Alona started the day teleoperating Robody from Atlanta, greeting our Kilian Toplitsch and shaking his hand from thousands of kilometres away. Later that day, workshop participants took turns controlling Robody… in Munich. Robody knows no time zones.
We tuned in to a lively debate among six top robotics professors: “Data will Solve Robotics: True or False?”. The debate captured a big question around the “ChatGPT moment” of robotics. While not the only answer, it’s clear data plays a crucial role in getting there. The biggest takeaway we are bringing back: in foundational models for robotics, right now, algorithms are secondary.
